Touring Joara, Burke County, NC, NC, October 23. Contact: Scott Coley
Cost:
$75.00 per car
European Style Automotive Tour in Burke County, NC. We will drive on some of North Carolinas most scenic and historic roads.
The tour is going to be a fundraiser for the Exploring Joara Foundation a 501 3c nonprofit which was started two years ago in order to develop a regional archeology program. This program became necessary when Archeologists David Moore, Robin Beck, and Christopher Rodning discovered Fort San Juan here in Burke County. Fort San Juan was a settlement that Juan Pardo a Spanish explorer set up in 1567 and is the earliest European settlement found in the interior of North America.
The tour will be a self guided sightseeing tour and poker run with five stops to pick up cards. The end will be at the Catawba Meadows in Morganton where we will award prizes for the best five card poker hand per class and give Touring Badges to each car.
The cost will be $75 per car to participate and a percentage of this registration will be a tax deductable donation to Exploring Joara Foundation.
